McLaren Artura Frequently Asked Questions

McLaren Artura Frequently Asked Questions

Curiosity and supercars go hand in hand, and the McLaren Artura sparks plenty of both. As McLaren’s first series-production High-Performance Hybrid, the Artura redefines what a plug-in can feel like behind the wheel.

Our team at McLaren Washington hears Artura questions every day from drivers around Sterling and Alexandria, Virginia, so we gathered the most popular ones in one place.

About the McLaren Artura
What is the McLaren Artura?

The Artura is McLaren’s first series-production High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) supercar, arriving in the U.S. in 2023 after a 2021 announcement. It pairs a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a compact electric motor and rides on the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture, a carbon fiber chassis engineered to keep weight low and rigidity high.

How many McLaren Artura were made?

McLaren has kept the total private. The Artura is a series-production model, which means McLaren builds it on an ongoing basis at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, England, instead of as a numbered limited edition.

Special editions add a collectible twist. The Artura 1000GP, created to mark 1,000 Grand Prix starts for the McLaren Formula 1 team, is limited to 10 examples worldwide.

When did the McLaren Artura first arrive?

McLaren revealed the Artura in February 2021, and U.S. drivers received the first cars as 2023 models. "Series-production" means the car was built continuously on a regular assembly line, unlike a one-off or a numbered limited edition.

Is there a convertible McLaren Artura?

Yes. The Artura Spider arrived for the 2025 model year with a retractable hardtop that opens or closes in about 11 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. That's quick enough to drop the top at a red light and still look composed when it turns green.

McLaren Artura Performance
How much horsepower does the McLaren Artura have?
Later Arturas produce 690 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. That output comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 working with an electric motor.
How fast is the McLaren Artura?

McLaren quotes these acceleration times:

  • 0-62 mph: 3.0 seconds
  • 0-124 mph: 8.3 seconds
  • Quarter mile: 10.7 seconds

Those are fighter-jet-briefing numbers in a car you can park at the grocery store.

What is the McLaren Artura's top speed?
The Artura reaches a top speed of 205 mph. A big part of that comes from the electric motor, which adds power on top of what the V6 can produce.
What transmission does the McLaren Artura use?
The Artura uses an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. A dual-clutch gearbox has two clutches: one for odd-numbered gears and one for even-numbered gears. The next gear is pre-selected, so shifts happen in milliseconds.
What fuel efficiency does the McLaren Artura deliver?
Under EU WLTP testing, the Artura is rated at 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers, which works out to roughly 49 mpg in U.S. gallons. Real-world results depend on driving style and how often you lean on electric mode, and U.S. EPA figures can vary.
What driving modes does the McLaren Artura offer?

The powertrain modes let you choose how the hybrid system behaves:

  • Electric for silent running
  • Comfort for everyday refinement
  • Sport for sharper response
  • Track for maximum performance

Drivers can also adjust how the electric motor is deployed to prioritize range or power, depending on the drive ahead.

Hybrid Powertrain and Charging
How does the McLaren Artura hybrid system work?
The Artura uses an axial flux electric motor, a design where magnetic flux runs parallel to the motor's shaft. This layout packs serious power into a compact unit about the size of a dinner plate, which is ideal for a weight-conscious supercar.
How long does it take to charge the Artura?
About 2.5 hours brings the battery up to 80% using an EVSE connection. EVSE stands for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, the wall box or charging station that safely delivers electricity to the car. The Artura can also recharge on the move, with the gas engine replenishing the battery to 80% within minutes during normal driving.
Can the McLaren Artura drive on electric power alone?
Yes. In pure EV mode, the Artura shuts off the gas engine and runs silently on battery power, with an electric range of up to 21 miles under EU WLTP testing.
What warranty covers the McLaren Artura?
Artura owners receive a 5-year vehicle warranty, a 6-year or 45,000-mile hybrid battery warranty, and 5 years of roadside assistance as standard. Coverage terms can vary by model year, so our team is happy to walk you through the specifics.

Exterior and Interior Design
What are McLaren Artura doors called?
Dihedral doors are a McLaren signature that dates back to the legendary McLaren F1. They hinge forward and swing up and out, creating an unforgettable entrance. They also take up less width when open compared with conventional doors, which makes tight parking spots and curbside stops surprisingly easy.
Is the McLaren Artura aerodynamic?
Yes. Hidden ducts and rear buttresses guide air over, under, and through the car to create downforce, the aerodynamic pressure that presses the car toward the pavement and adds grip at speed. The rear clamshell is hot-formed as a single flowing panel, trimming weight and sending clean air straight to the integrated rear spoiler.
How many paint colors are available with the McLaren Artura?
The Artura offers a palette of upward of 30 shades, including bold solid colors and metallics with a depth that shifts in the light. Each finish receives hours of meticulous attention at the factory, right down to details most eyes would miss.
What wheel options are available on the McLaren Artura?
The Artura rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels. Optional forged wheels shave an extra 16.5 pounds of unsprung weight, meaning the weight sitting beneath the suspension springs, and reducing it sharpens both handling and ride quality.
What seating options are available in the McLaren Artura?

Drivers can choose Clubsport or Comfort seats. The Clubsport seat delivers the weight savings of a bucket seat with the support needed for daily performance driving, plus adjustable height, backrest angle, and under-thigh support.

Optional heating and memory functions add everyday convenience.

How much cargo space does the McLaren Artura have?
The front trunk, often called the "frunk," holds about 5.6 cubic feet. It's lined, lit, and fitted with retention nets, and it's roomy enough for a couple of soft overnight bags.
What McLaren Artura interior themes can I choose?

The Artura offers three interior families:

  • Performance: Four sporty themes pairing dark Alcantara with bright contrasting accents, such as Graphite and Jet Black with Ember Orange.
  • TechLux: Four themes of Extended Nappa leather in rich tones, including Mojave Tan and Jet Black with a Teal accent.
  • Vision: Two avant-garde themes combining lighter Nappa leather and Alcantara with bold accents, like Dove Grey and Jet Black with Flux Green.

Alcantara is a soft, suede-like microfiber prized for its grip and light weight, and Nappa is a supple, premium grade of leather. Every theme includes 12-color ambient lighting, brushed dark titanium trim, and brushed metal gearshift paddles.

Technology and Comfort
What comfort features come standard in the McLaren Artura?
Standard comforts include a power-adjustable steering column, dual-zone climate control, two cup holders, lined door bins, and a center console storage bin. A frameless electrochromic rearview mirror automatically dims when headlights glare behind you, keeping your view clear after dark.
What infotainment system does the McLaren Artura have?

McLaren Infotainment System II runs through an 8-inch HD touchscreen paired with an HD driver display, and both screens work with your phone. Highlights include:

  • Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration
  • Navigation with 3D turn-by-turn guidance in the cluster
  • SiriusXM® satellite radio and Bluetooth® calling
  • USB-C and USB-B ports
  • Five-speaker McLaren Audio System

User profiles save your favorites and ergonomic settings, which come in handy when you share the keys with a partner who swears they drive gently.

Does the McLaren Artura support Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™?
Yes. Both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard, and your phone's apps appear on both the central touchscreen and the instrument cluster. Navigation, music, and messages stay within easy view.
What driver assistance features come with the Artura?

The Artura pairs track-ready tools with everyday helpers. Lane Departure Warning and Road Sign Recognition keep an extra set of eyes on I-95, while Hill Hold Assist and Cruise Control handle routine commuting.

On a closed course, Launch Control and Variable Drift Control let you explore the chassis, and the three-mode Electronic Stability Control sets how much the car steps in. Brake Disc Wipe clears water off the rotors in the rain.
